If you want pixel art to be animated, you could try using piskelapp: http://www.piskelapp.com/

It doesn't really need to be a animated for the image. literally no sheets are animated, other then the icons. we need the animations to be separate to work.

That's... not how it works - an animated sheet wouldn't serve much of a purpose. What I think DogToon means is that if you want animated aspects, you'll have to give them a dedicated area of the sheet with explanations as to how they work, and a placeholder block to indicate where the animated section is meant to be placed on the foreground of background. Sort of like with the Metropolis Zone background.

the reason the mountain range is gone is because its getting replaced by dogtoon's. this is definitely not final.

Yeah, like The Observer said, it's so you could animate certain objects easier than using MS Paint (although, I use it for making sprites as well).
One thing I could suggest on the aurora is making the palette change as it's moving.
Also, I'm still working on the mountains. I'll work on it after I post an update to my Pokemon Yellow styled Metal Knuckles to see how people like it...

There wasn't need to add further blank space fill with that awfully stretched Knuckles. You could have removed the giant Sonic and Robotnik and put the animation particles there.

Elsehow, I'll say it again, I'll be repeating myself on critique. You know where to find it.

yes, patience, but i was expecting for anybody to respond to the last post.
We don't need to respond. We gave help, now you just need to go back and follow it.
  1. Fix the shading.
  2. Improve the hand-drawn elements (snowman, present)
  3. Study Sonic 2's sprites and adjust the designs accordingly.
  4. Wait for DogToon64's mountains.
Sprite work takes time, so take time with your sprites.
Follow our advice, and improve.

Until then, take care Jace1313

I'm not holding back anymore. These are my unfiltered thoughts on this. If this nets me a warning, let me be warned.

It looks like the thread at this stage is just going to go around and around in circles. Sheet gets posted, it gets critique written up for it, suggestions are given, and people continue about their day. Sheet gets posted again, but the previous suggestions are largely skipped over or misinterpreted. So more critique is posted and suggestions are given, and people continue about their day again. Ad infinitum.

At this point, I'm not sure whether there's a failure to understand the suggestions - ask us so we can explain better if we have to! - or just a general contempt for the critique and suggestions wholesale that leads to it appearing to be ignored. I don't want to call for staff intervention on the subject if it's the latter, but will.

In regards to the mountains - and by extension the background alone - how could it not be clearer as to how much work is required for it? I'm not going back through the thread and looking for the amount of times that "Study the Sonic 2 style" has been said, but I'm confident that that suggestion, at the very least, was better off being spoken to a brick wall. I full well know I said to practice on something smaller in the Sonic 2 to get a feel for it but still the Zone sheet has proceeded to be worked on.

The Sonic 2 style is basically a distant memory where the original elements are concerned. I'm going to say it loud and clear: It does not match the Sonic 2 style in its current standard and a lot of studying of that style must be undertaken in order to achieve what you're aiming for. It is actually ridiculous to me that in 12 days we're still at pretty much the same position as we were at the start of the thread.

Read all the critique and suggestions, and acknowledge them. This is the only way you're going to get your sheet where you want it to be.

thank you so much. i was able to finish the design.

if there is any other problems with this, let me know. other than that, this is THE best version.
i tried to fix the stupid snowman and the stupid present, and i also made the winter tree more like a winter tree.
we have come a long, long, way. i appreciate the critique you gave me, i can probably read the critique you give me if it gets rejected.

best of luck.

EDIT: i hate that damn bush (RTB) but the dog (ton) is fine. it got rejected even though i try hard? what if there is no more critique i have? i quit. i am gonna move to deviant art instead.

First of all, calm down, I see shades of some of another member's posts there. That sort of attitude to your own work is self-destructive and won't help.

Secondly, no we haven't.

Finally - which is it? It can't go both ways. You either appreciate the critique, which means you acknowledge it, or you ignore it. To actually outright say "I can probably read it" tells me that you don't have much regard for what's been posted.

I'm not here to fall on you like a ton of bricks, I have tried time and again to guide you. I have however reached my limit, which is why I'm having to take on a harsher tone.

Again, calm down.

While yes, you can, as it's your decision, I'd like to highlight that you may get the same criticism there as here.

Take a deep breath, and think. Why have we been posting pointers for you? We want you to succeed with this. And guidance can only go so far, you have to meet us halfway. I'm not playing a game when I say to "study the Sonic 2 style" - if you want to match the style, you have to know it.
