Golsource Chrome Textures in Blender

I'm planning on ripping models from goldsource games and it would be helpful to know how to get chrome textures to work in Blender (Example being the Vortigaunt's shackles being compeltely black instead of the texture working as intended). The method i'm using is to import the SMD refs directly to blender with the Blender Source Tools, I don't know if this is the optimal way to do it though. I am desperate for help as no info seems to exist online.

PS: Another thing is that my models end up looking smooth and weird while the models on here (not just Goldsrc models) don't.
