#1
Hi everyone !

I just begin to try to extract the magnificent backgrounds of SaGa Frontier 2.

Here one of the first we see in the game :

Is this good to publish ?

I used Psx-VRAM for the first time but the process is long to reorder properly, by any chance is there any program to do it automaticaly ?

Also fortunately, when you find one palette the others same kind of sprite seems to have their in the same area but have you any tips to find them quickly ?
Apparently there isn't screenshot which appears for this game, it will help if yes ?
A screenshot :

I'm pretty sure you can extract the backgrounds from this game automatically using PSIcture.

This is probably a bit necro-like, but did you continue this at all?
That first shot is great, and I love this games art style.

Hey! It is very good to see some love to this game.

I am the guy who decoded a bunch of BATTLE sprites over the other thread.

I love the backgrounds in this game too, so I try to decode even more files in the game. So far, I think, I managed to get every images in the game. I'm talking about every sprites, objects, effects, backgrounds in the game. It is not organized for upload yet, but you can take a look here:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/f32m14ywa9...58.7z/file
(LARGE FILE WARNING : it has 1,517,443 PNGs and 6.2 GB unpacked!)

It would be a great help if anyone can organize all the images as spritesheets (with correct names) and upload them to the site.

Thanks, and also Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2020.

Hi! Do you have the Japanese version of the game (SLPS 019.90) ? If you mount that BIN/CUE, you'll notice it has way more files than the US version. That's where I ripped the images from.

From there, you just need to discover the pixel data, palette data, data structures in width, height, position x,y (and in BATTLE, drawing position x,y). See if you can understand when you open them with different programs.

By the way, do you have a copy of SaGa Frontier 2 Art Book? I need to identify those unamed NPCs. I really don't know what to call them besides "chr000_bin", and TSR reject those names...

I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, Happy Holiday and have fun!
