Light's Sprites (Customs and Edits)
#1
I hope this first one is ok to post, as I'm aware it is by and large mostly a recolor...

I recently finished a large-scale color, edit, and cleanup of the Kanto overworld, specifically that of Pokémon Red/Blue/Green. I wasn't a big fan of the tileset used for Yellow/Gen II, so I did this using that of RGB.

At first I adhered to the 8-bit rule, but ended up ditching it as I went on just to see what I could do. This is really the first large-scale project I've done.

Here's a link to it, as the image is quite large.

The second thing I've done to start this thread off is a sprite of my OC, Sophie. The one on the left I'd done ages ago, and the one on the right is an edit of that, trying my hand at sticking to the 15+transparency rule as well as trying out selout.

I think the dark jeans would have worked just as well in the second version, but everything else in your recent edit I like.

I do like what you are doing here.

That colorized Kanto is fantastic! Keep up the great work!

You're right about the jeans. I could perhaps darken them, but her eye color would also change with them.
Same with her lighter hair, I ended up being able to use the darker tones elsewhere in the sprite.
Thanks for the feedback, though. Maybe I can be a bit more picky about palettes going forward.

Thanks. I've attached the tileset I put together while I worked on it as well as another devamp I did of Faraway Island/World's Edge Island.
I'd like to submit all of it to the Pokemon customs section, but I'm looking for a bit of feedback before I do.

I don't think it's necessarily a question of being picky about the pallatte in this case, but I think what matters is being able to know where to use higher areas of contrast and lower areas of contrast in parts of the sprite.

This might be just a me preference but I think perhaps having the combination of using the lighter skin and hair from the second sprite and have it work hand in hand with some of the colors from the clothes of the first sprite it might actually look alright. But that's just a me thing. Also that rendition of Faraway Island in gold and silver style looks stellar.
