Suggestion: Better NSFW Handling?
#61
I didn't approve anything. And obviously, if other stuff went through the queue, it would have been looked at but submissions of that nature were so few and far between that they went under the radar in the end. It was only when a massive quantity of submissions from this genre started hitting the site that it got attention from more than just the person reviewing them.

Again, I didn't approve anything but I absolutely would not be okay with shota content either. Feel free to provide the link and I'll check that out as well. I was never okay with Full Service but since we didn't actually have a rule against it, I wasn't going to say it couldn't be uploaded.

Again, this isn't a sudden decision based on your most recent submissions. It's the result of a discussion amongst staff. We just don't feel like this is the right kind of content for this site and that's why I'm not too keen on allowing a game that contains it even without the sheets in question. But, like I said, I'm not making that call just yet - I'm waiting for others to provide feedback on the idea as well.

I'm going to defend Davias here and say that when the content is minimal, a game should still be considered. There are many games from the 1980s, 1990s, etc. which used nudity but would be fully accepted on this site.
The concern is that we use this site as a sprites resource, not a porn resource. If SFW submissions from a partial NSFW game are available, they should be left. If a game is made up almost entirely from NSFW content, then it's a no-go.

Consider games which are deemed cult classics, such as Princess Maker 2, or the bootleg games released on NES.
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you

I'm not disagreeing with that viewpoint but games that contain explicit depictions of actual sex, regardless of what other content they have in them, I feel go against the purpose of this change. I'm not talking about games that just contain some nudity - that's fine. I'm talking about games that lead into full porn shots, even if that's not the primary purpose of the game. Just wanted to make where I was coming from clear before we continue discussing.

How do you define this? By the amount of ero in a game or the amount of sheets from it? If the latter one applies, I could easily fuse the sexy sheets together and outnumber the NSFW sheets with SFW content (like for the Libra Heart games, which have really good pixel art & animations).

Gonna change the icons later. And yes, Nunc Monstrum was just one sheet.
Edit: Icons with zoomed in breasts are in revision.

Okay, so since we never quite came to a final agreement on this subject, I went ahead and deleted all of the sexually explicit content from these two games. I still feel that if a game contains any pornographic content (as in not just nudity but actual sex being portrayed), it doesn't belong on the site (and doubly so if that's the primary intent of the game) but since there seems to be some disagreement on that point, I'm just removing that specific content for now.

To clarify my position, I'm 100% okay with there being NSFW content. That's why we have the filter. I'm not okay with pornographic content as far as submissions to the site go and it's my view that a game that contains them at all doesn't belong on the site, even if there are plenty of normal sheets that can be made form the rest of the game's content. Games that entirely revolve around sex obviously would not be permitted by these standards either.

I think he was defining this by the amount of NSFW content in the game, not sheet count specifically but I could be wrong there. If I'm understanding his view on it though, that's where we differ since, as above, I think games that contain extremely sexually explicit content should not be uploaded at all, regardless of how much safe content can be uploaded from those games as well.

Thoughts?

Porn games are already on the site for years now, but just with their SFW sheets. Do you want to control the background of every single new & existing game if it possibly contains porn even if it's just one or two scenes? Sounds pretty ideological to me, because as long as their sheets on the site are safe there shouldn't be a problem at all. Also would bestial murder scenes in 18+ games like Dead Space disqualify such a game from being accepted in general? I don't think so and the game as a whole isn't safe either.

My view on this is that, if a game is not purely defined by pornographic material, or DOES contain SFW content of any kind, it should be up on the site and simply leave out the hardcore porno stuff. Ruling out a game completely simply because it has some NSFW uploaded is a waste of good resources.
