Flash Animation
#1
It can look amazing if you use it to it's full potential. But if not it can come off as looking lazy (excessive use of motion tweens for example).

So what's everyone's overall opinion on it? I've been decompiling a lot of Flash games recently and it motivated me to ask.

most of the big cartoon productions i've seen that were made in flash were done beautifully, like foster's home, fairly-odd parents and of course MLPFiM.

what i don't really like about flash itself is how difficult it is to compress the file size of a movie/animation/etc. without totally killing the quality. so you end up with i.e. the tinny sound and the tweens don't run at the given FPS speed (like if you have a tween that lasts for over a few seconds, it really slows down. shape tweens are probably the worst to use because they tend to make the images do what you don't want them to do anyway). it can get a little frustrating, but otherwise it's not a bad tool to use for animation.

Not a fan of MLP but I agree with Jazz on Fosters and Fairly Odd parents.

I've been learning in flash (Which, is now called adobe animate because it's adobe) and after effects lately for my animation major and I can tell you that, if it's done right flash can produce some good animations. The thing is you have to keep in mind is that no matter what tools you use it really comes down to the artist using it. Personally, I prefer it over puppeting in after affects.
