Much better, IMO. With the colours, the darker shades could use hue-shifting, which, in the case of shading, is changing the hue (colour) in between shades. For example, having a red, a lighter red with a slightly more orange hue, and a darker red with a slightly more purple hue - Darker shades are generally shifted towards blue, and lighter to yellow (I think).

I find this sprite's blue to be too saturated and it's a nuisance to look at, tone down on the saturation a little.

the leg placement is also unnaturally stiff and looks very short, but i think that's the side-effect of making a SNES-styled sprite.

Another optional thing you can do is to optimize your palette! The yellow on the buttons only appears there, so it feels a little wasteful (no offense)

I think you could change their colors ro Mario's skin tone or white without loss in definition. As you're making sprites, efficiency is key.

Does it look good? I tried experimenting with hue-shifting as you said but orange and purple are exactly the colors I have most problem with, so I don't know if I'm not actually making Mario's clothes look like an orange and purple fashion abomination.

I've been experimenting with that (you can see how the sprite has been using progressively less colors), but changing the buttons made them look odd to me. Same with the glove outline, I tried to change it to one of the skin colors once but it didn't look too good.
