Ripping sprites using GLInterecept help (DS)
#1
Trying to rip sprites from Super Robot Wars W for DS using GL Intercept and I'm getting no where. For whatever reason I can't get GL Intercept to work with DeSmuME. I used the tutorial located here (http://spritedatabase.net/tutorial_ds.php) and I can't seem to get GL Intercept to create an Images folder with the sprite rips in it.

Alternatively if someone could point me in the direction to rip into the ROM and just pull the sprites out myself that'd be cool. I tried researching into using DS Lazy with a few other programs and it seemed to go over my head in terms of what all I needed to do.

First, make sure to download the uptodate version of glintercept ( the one in the tutorial isnt).
Here a link to download it Do the same for your emulator. Also, dont forget to set the emulator to use the opengl renderer.

GL Intercept only works with open GL rendered games, and the one you may have may not. The best tool to have with NDS ripping is a tool called Tinke, which you can get here:

It allows you to view every file stored in the NDS rom(including individual graphics such as sprites). Tahaxan is another program that does the same. I can give you a zip file of it if your interested. Hope this helps!

Yep. Got both of those at their newest versions.

Well crap. I've used both of the above and I'm getting a bunch of .bin files with no hints as to their encoding. Any common encodings that are used among DS games?

Depending upon how the game is structured, the sprite data may be in those .bin files. I know some ds games use LZ77 standard and Huffman compression. Could you upload some of these .bin files by extracting them? I might be able to help

Here ya go. The 3 add01dat.bin files located in the "Data" folder as well as the first 10 Overlay_XXXX.bin files in the Overlay folder. There's 87 of those files but I haven't really dug into em yet.
