Roblox Models: Piracy?
#1
Are the Roblox models present here (namely user-made ones) piracy? Most are user made, and many depict content from commercial products, sometimes ripped from official games. Why are they here?

That's what this site does, it stores models, sprites, and other assets from games. This is for archiving, for people to learn from, or simply just to let people appreciate them. The legality of this is in somewhat of a grey area, but most developers seem fine with it and we always remove them if they ask us to (so far this has only happened a few times).

It isn't piracy though, as we aren't giving access to the actual game (the Sounds Resource also only stores sound effects, not music).

Roblox stuff is... different. All this Roblox content is user-crafted work, and is already gray enough to begin with.

Edit: Double-Checked. Much, if not all, of the content is actually official. Pass.

Certainly not piracy, if that were the case then all of our models would fall under that line.

But if the fact that a good chunk of it is all fan-made content (can't confirm, don't know much about the game itself), then... Well, to be frank we could have the same situation if someone started submitting cosmetic items from Team Fortress 2.

...I'm really not sure what to say about all this.

I don't think there really is anything left to say. There isn't an issue here. Unless miru made some of those models and this is a round-about way of asking us to remove them, everything is fine. All of the content on all of our sites were made by someone at some point so models being user-made really isn't relevant and certainly isn't piracy.
