Some douchebag had that going off over a whole bus trip from home to a shopping center. I actually snapped and yelled at him.
The driver even told me he was having the shits with it as well, and made sure nobody with that brand of phone got on.
I am triggered

This is the legit worst reason to have someone get on your nerves. I own a Galaxy S4 so with this rock-solid logic, you already can't stand me. ):

I know what you mean though - it's a legitimately annoying SMS tone. The thing is that it's the default message tone that ships with the phone and most people can't be assed to change it (mainly because they don't know how) Anyone with half a brain and some patience knows how to change their message tone - so it sounds like you found one of the ones who had less than half a brain.

Instead of flipping out and shouting at the person (and in turn being part of the problem with today's youth Sad) perhaps you should politely ask them "Hey, it sounds like you're using the default messaging tone on your Samsung phone? You can change it by going into the system options." "Would you like me to walk you through how to do it?" and take their phone and chuck it out the window walk them through it by tapping the "Menu" key (left-side LED button, looks like a page) > Settings > My Device > Sound and Notification > Scroll down and the "Message tone" setting is located just under the vibration

There is a plethora of alternative tones, such as "Flowers", "On Time", and "Pure Bell" Smile

i'm actually surprised with how much we do this in the US how we didn't have people with nut allergies boycotting the Peanuts movie

Oh, another thing that bothers me in YouTube comments:
"my mom said if I get 200 subs by tomorrow she'll get me a dog! Plz help me get 200 subs!"

...what kind of parent is that?
I think MattShea said it best:
"Could you imagine if someone actually had a parent like that?"

"Hey mom, can I get a dog?"
"Not unless you get 200 subscribers on your YouTube channel you little sh*t!"

Also, to tag onto the Tumblr thing, this is pretty much accurate. http://tmblrgetsoffended.tumblr.com/post...mofthunder

The thing is, I've never used a Samsung. Mine's an LG phone. But I'll remember to ask politely next time.
Also, my ears are sensitive to loud and noises, and it irritates them. It's one of the reasons I rarely go out to clubs.
But to tell you the truth. Most people on the buses I travel on are unpleasant and rude.

-On topic-
Another thing that get's annoying is when elders argue over taxis. I've seen it happen a few times, and even the drivers can't stand it.
One driver told me he got so fed up, he drove off because of one of those happening. So It does get pretty bad in my area.
The arguments usually start of them trying to claim they were first. They just want the asses home faster than anybody else.
At least the elders I meet were waiting first. And some people do end up sharing a cab going to the same location.

People who say you can't complain about something because someone has it worse than you, or the oversensitive/easily offended.

Guy 1:"I'm starving"
Guy 2:"You're not a starving African child get over yourself"

Guy 1:"I'm broke"

also did college humor edit that second video, I could have sworn it was originally called "childhood raped"

She's not even fat, more like an amazon build mixed with hourglass if you ask me. It's the dress that makes her look fat.
Not to mention the official art, mainly the first one on Google image search, is her pregnant with Steven.
As much as I have to catch up on that show, I'm not sure if I'll watch it anymore if the fanbase acts that fucking cruel.

I'm not sure if you have seen my post about this issue regarding fanbases, but... I honestly was trying to refrain from jumping in here because I don't want to be looked at funny since I'm such a diehard over this show and could argue about the matter for a while, as I have already in the Undertale thread.

However it's not even specific to that, and something I hate with every inch of me is when people adopt the shallow mentality to stop supporting something/form disgust against it just because some fans are being mental shitwads over it. Nowhere (or at least none that I've seen) do the fans' negative actions actually have merit on the content itself or the quality of it (unless obviously the content in itself is actually questionable but I've yet to see an example of that).

If I may use a popular example... I think we know what kind of rep. My Little Pony has. I've seen a few clips of the show and I can't lie, it doesn't look terrible. It certainly doesn't seem to deserve the weird plaguey status it's obtained thanks to its... colorful fandom. I don't know much about FNAF, much less its fanbase so I won't comment on that, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's in a similar boat as MLP.

With all that said, it's just so appalling to me when people let the fans' actions influence their view on a piece of media. Is it not common logic to either look into the thing before defaulting to passing it off as a heinous toxin that garners all the detest one can muster, or not outright jump ship with it and join the evasion bandwagon just because some fans were being braindead apes over something pertaining to it? Well maybe it just is for me, but... I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for, right? Then again, welcome to Earth, right? When do people ever possess common sense about everything? (This isn't a jab at anyone specifically keep reading)

So, to get back on-point: please, please don't take the fanbase into account if you enjoy something/are considering looking into something. Especially if it's something like SU, which is a cute, cool, well-developed and highly positively influential cartoon that has so much love put into it -- the creators don't deserve to lose support over any of the bullshit that has happened within the fanbase, and it's just so fucking unfair that it's gotten all this negative reception lately over the recent incident. Don't forget, this applies to anything else that has an unjustly soiled reputation because some fucking selfish idiots over the internet don't give a shit about being insensitive pricks and spoiling others' fun.

...Anyway, I realize it might look like it, but this wasn't meant to be an angry rant against you; it was more against this issue as a whole because as some of you can probably tell, it has very recently started hitting me pretty hard and I simply can't ignore it when it comes up. I'm not trying to jam anything down anyone's throats, but I am just reaching out to help rectify this toxic, ever-spreading trend of one-track biased hatred (being the people that take one look at the fanbase for something and go like "fuck this thing it's obviously terrible and everyone who likes it is too") and flawed views toward medias based solely on the behavior of its fans.

I'm not sure if I've gone a bit far with some of my words or not, but I do know one thing: creators of honest, genuine content shouldn't suffer from repercussions caused by people (who label themselves as fans)'s sickening actions, and people who enjoy said content should not be driven away from it because of negative outside influence. Please just enjoy it as you do for what it is, the way it's meant to be enjoyed. Other people have no detrimental impact on the integrity of the content unless you allow it.

Sooo yea that's something I find (very) annoying that people do. I hope everyone sees where I'm coming from, as I'm really passionate about this issue.

Similarly, "One-uppers" piss me off. The ones who have to butt in every time you tell a story about something shitty happening to you/an acquaintance with a "you think that's bad? Well just the other day, I/[my buddy]...".

Also,
  • people who blatantly interrupt you, control the whole rest of conversation nonstop for minutes on end into a whole different direction (Jesus Christ just shut your fucking mouth for six goddamn seconds and let me speak again arghhh), and ask you "sorry, what were you saying?" well beyond when the subject material has shifted well beyond what you were going to say. You either end up feeling like a stupid asshole by referencing something discussed 20 minutes ago, or you just drop it. You can't win.
  • "so yeah"
  • "how're classes going?" (I know you mean well, but c'mon man this is my temporary escape from college, I don't wanna think about that)
  • (With multiple people) Referencing something that one person in your group should easily recall, yet they conveniently don't at that exact moment and proceed to act as if you've just spouted nonsense gibberesh like an insane person
  • it's already been mentioned, but that goddamn whistle ringtone is the stuff of torture with the mindgames it can play with people
Offending people is a necessary and healthy act... Every time you say something that's offensive to another person, you just caused a discussion. You just forced them to have to think. - Louis C.K.

It's okay. I now understand what you mean. And I very much stay away from the likes of FNAF and MLP.

The former for becoming too overrated and annoying, leading me to never try the game. And I did say it's just a clone of Night Trap.
Not even sure if I'll bother with the upcoming movie, but it has animatronics by the Jim Henson Creature Shop! Unsure

The Latter for being, well, little girl's stuff. Why did this innocent little 33 year old toyline get such a huge male fanbase?
It's does get annoying how they get so defensive over it. They're freaking cartoon horses, not your girlfriends!

Honestly though - if we really analyze the whole fanbase/media thing... We'd hardly dislike things.

It's cool and all that you like show X and game Y despite the cancerous fanbase. This is a thing. However, there are times that you simply don't like show X or game Y no matter the fanbase - it's just not your cup of tea. And we don't need a real, objective reason to dislike something.

Disliking and liking is subjective and while we should strive to find solid reasons for everything you try, sometimes it's love at first sight and hate at first sight. Who knows.

For example, I'll never be able to play Kingdom Hearts because I think it's a retarded setting in itself. Nor I'll use Comic Sans for literally anything, ever. It's things I can't like or use at all.

Well no I wasn't saying someone had to like a thing but a lot of what turns people off is the fans -- I understand if it's outright not someone's thing. Though, I was definitely taking a jab at the diseased fandoms too. There's truth there though.

Either way, it really makes me feel happy when I can help someone to continue liking what they like without the gross outside world trying to convince them otherwise. Does that make sense? I'm not even sure anymore, tonight's been really weird for some reason...

It does, don't worry - I just complemented the thought

Basically, preference is subjective and has multiple variables that either make people like or hate a given X thing.

the fanbase
the aesthetic
the feel
the quality (this one is also highly subjective)

And it's wise to know that no matter the combination, the result can vary a lot as each one perceives these variables differently

I have a friend who tends to overuse a couple of phrases or words, sometimes in places where it doesn't quite work. Stuff like "that actually says a lot about them" or "that's absolutely abysmal". I mean, I can't blame him for it, that's just how he is, but sometimes I think to myself "eehhhh there are better ways to put it".

One thing that can really grind my gears is whistling, mostly if it's something I know very well. I always groan to myself when my brother or sister start whistling the LoZ theme. I get that it's fun, and again I don't think they shouldn't, it just does tend to get on my nerves.

You ever come across someone that thinks a problem deals with an entire group? I've seen people in Overwatch streams arguing about Japan and Korea like something that happened 75 years ago is somehow the fault of a 20 year old.
