StarSock64I don't care about an expansion to one of the worst pokemon worlds yet.

Even worse than Sinnoh? That place was 50% mud and 50% cave!

X/Y has the worst story/characters yet. Somehow managed to get more JRPG cliches and pretentious drama than ever before.

I'll never forget the moment the game was dead to me. When I saw a tear role down the villains face when talking about Pokemon. I felt like chucking my 3DS against the wall!

By the time I beat the game I was like: "They finally really did it. You maniacs! Damn you! Goddamn you all to hell!"

^By "world" I didn't just mean the lay of the land but also stuff like the story and characters, so yeah, even worse than Sinnoh!

Ah I see. Okay I completely agree then.

And those awful little mini games to earn snack for your Pokemon were shit too.

Oh, and that needlessly huge city that was easy to get lost in.

Yeah, there was a lot wrong with this game.

Honestly I think in terms of the main game r/b/y has the best region, most balanced, etc.

Blue was the only rival that ever really felt like one, he was beating every gym before you, put up a decent challenge, and became champion.

Silver could have been cooler if he took down his dad or something, but Red feels like a bigger rival since they're both player characters.

I know it's a lot to ask for Nintendo to make Pokemon more mature, and well written but why not? The mangas are all that way and they're super popular.

gen 4 < gen 6 < gen 5 < gen 1 < gen 2 < gen 3

there could be some bias here, but i really liked the tropical feeling gen 3 gave off. it was really cool.

Normally people use "greater than" signs rather than arrows so I thought your list was all kinds of backwards!

I wish the newer games had better music. If any one thing could improve the atmosphere significantly, I think that'd be it. Right now the ultra bright graphics with the super animu characters and the poppy synth music is too much and I don't expect them to change the graphical direction any time soon

Gen 2 is the best for me hands down, and their Gen 4 remakes. STILL the only games to have the most amount of content and freedom. After Goldenrod City, the path splits into an order you can choose, and then you have all of Kanto to yourself. Then you actually get to find out what happened to the previous player characters. No other games showed what happened to the previous player characters.

Yeah for real, I always wanted to see what happened to Ethan/Gold when I was playing R/S as a kid.

I love the games equally.

Gen 1 was corporate corrupt mafia killed by a kid. Gen 2 was gen 1 with disorganization and self loathing. Gen 3 was gen 2 with environmentalists that couldn't see the big picture. Gen 4 was Gen 3 on British TV. Gen 5 was Gen 4 on PETA and the IRA. Gen 6 was gen 5 with a sympathetic satan and a titan, but I still enjoyed them all.

Not only that but some of the other characters that didn't make it into Gold or Silver actually ended up getting some level of back story somehow, like Giovanni.

On another note, Gen 4 Johto and Kanto are probably hands down the best regions done in all the pokemon games, that's without a doubt. Sinnoh felt kind of bland and Hoenn fell short of what was really expected, especially with the remakes, To this day I am still beyond disappointed that alot of the content was cut from Pokemon Emerald and even the original Ruby and Sapphire when Game Freak went all out to actually put content from crystal into HG/SS, which I still think is bullshit personally.

I thought they were going to do the same treatment honestly, considering they also added stuff to FireRed and LeafGreen (albeit missing some Yellow Content). I was surprised to hear there was no Battle Frontier in OR/AS. The World Tournament was nice in Black and White 2, and all the lovely animated sprites for everyone, and animated battle grounds, at least. It's too bad that didn't happen until after HG/SS xD.

Here's my list of gens in order of favorite to least favorite.

Gen 2
Featured day and night, breeding, item holding and so much more! It has the best music, best characters, and new Pokemon that are just as good as the ones from the first gen!
Gen 1
The game that started it all and made legends! The Pokemon designs are some of the best they ever will be in my opinion. I love the names given to them too, like Muk or Slowpoke. Really simple and silly. That's how I like them. And that's how they were desinged. I miss the simplicity of the series.
Gen 5
I mostly love this gen because of its Pokemon. They had Pokemon that reminded me of the first and second gen. Even the names were super goofy like Foongus and Amoongus. Or Roggenrolla! I also liked the seasons thing but it was implimented poorly. They shoulda done something like Animal Crossing.
Gen 3
This is the gamwme where everything started to go downhill for me. I remember seeing the list of new Pokemon for the first time and felt... disappointment. They were so ugly and unlikeable. Their colors were desaturated and had their eyes were souless. The music also bothered me, too trumpety or something.
Gen 4
What a boring mess this was. I can barely remember the gym leaders I fought. The whole game was so fogetable. The only thing I remember was tons of caves and falling in mud. So much fucking mud.
Gen 6
Here's where the series really pissed me off to the point where I can't even possibly describe the hatred. But I think you got the idea.

^I have a more positive opinion of gen 3 but that's probably the same order I would put the games in

I haven't played gen 2 since I was a kid but it really left an impact on me. Nothing will be as iconic as gen 1, but gen 2 was a very cool sequel and I really dug the more mysterious tone

I just want you to know that your signs are backwards. Unless your favorite is Gen 4, that is
