PSP Topic
#1
So I've been thinking it over recently and I'm pretty interested in a PSP, not just for it's selection of games, but also for the homebrew/emulation scene.
Is there anything I should know about PSPs before I buy?
(Price, problems, good games, how easy to mod, good homebrews/emulation, recommended memory card size, etc)

Also, I know about the crapish battery the PSP has.

(I'm thinking of getting a PSP Slim)

PSP's price isn't as bad as the PS3's price.....

Anyways I am thinking of getting one my self... but it depends right now, I am saving for a 360 at the moment.

I have a friend who completely homebrewed his. he runs a crappy version of Windows XP on it and has an N64 emulator. He can also use it as a universal remote. But if you want to hack it, buy a used one that's older. Because to get most emulators and stuff to work, you's had to downgrade the firmware to at least 1.5 or lower. New ones are around 4.5 and it's near impossible to downgrade it from there.

Hmm.
I heard of a method called pandora battery, but I dunno..

Yeah, he used Pandora's Battery. But that needs the firmware to be at 1.5 or lower to work.

My sister has a PSP, but I suggest using it for portable ROM gaming instead of buying the actual games. There's no second control stick so the control is like... bleh, she says.

So I shouldn't get a PSP Slim?

I have aq reguallr old PSP, the battery's fine, it lasts through the day, even though I only listen to music on it, and some of the games aren't bad either, I recomend getting arcade like games rather than actually adventure games, or get RPGs (no, not a rocket powered grenade) like Brave Story.

Also, for the memory stick, the one that's made with the PSP logo on it, is a rip-off, you can get a regular 1-2 gig MS and it costs less than getting two PSP 500 MS

i have personal experiences
There is nothing to understand, that's why nothing understands it

yea, that's like Wii SD cards. You can buy a 1gig card for 20$, or you can just go a little bit more down the road to Staples and get a 2gig card for 20$ Sick

bah, I've been waiting for PSP's to come down in price, which it doesn't look like they will. My friend said he would sell me his for 70$ since he was getting garbage for it traded in, but before I could get back to him he had sold it to someone for 100$ Sick

There aren't that many noticeable problems on the game unless you try to do what's in the quotes. Also it should've had two A-sticks.
| seriously, don't try doing that

The PSP is an amazing system even without the portable emulation. The slim/lite's better, but you probably won't get the benefit of the whole portable emulating deal with it.

The only real problems with PSP are the price (which is ultimately worth it if you can afford it imo) and the fact that the screen gets dirty/scratched easily with nothing to protect it

The complaints about the analog nub are bullshit, it feels awkward at first but it's fine once you get used to it.
