Looking for character models (and textures) from Animal Crossing: New Leaf
#1
Hi all, I'm looking for a number of character models from Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS, and I'd be willing to pay someone with the time and resources to rip them. I tried to do it myself but I got stuck at the point where you need a physical 3DS with old enough firmware in order to decrypt the game's file system, and I don't particularly want to go out and get new hardware just for this if I can avoid it.

I'm new to this site (and forums in general), so I apologize if I'm not providing enough information about what I want. Please feel free to ask questions and I'll answer and update this post.

The first thing I'd like to ask is: what would people in this community consider a reasonable price per character (for example, how much roughly would you expect to be compensated for ripping Isabelle's model with only one texture for facial expression and clothes)?

If at all possible I would like to stick to the same person to rip all of the models and pay for them one at a time as they are ripped so that we can develop a relationship of trust.

If the person who rips the models would like to post them on the Models Resource site afterwards, that would not be a problem.

Much appreciated!

Hello and welcome! I wish I could help you directly with your request but alas, this is out of my area of expertise. I just stopped by to say that I hope this request is fulfilled because it's an excellent example of how a commission should be laid out. The goal is realistic, the reason someone else is being asked to do this is present, guidelines are reasonable, and the entire post is polite and friendly. New commissions (and requests as well) should take note of this because it makes everything easier for everyone.

Best of luck, clem.e.todd!

Greetings. Smile

I should warn before hand that I know nothing about ripping things from 3DS or any other game for that matter, but I'm extremely interested in this project, as a fan of the Animal Crossing series.

However, I stumbled upon what I think is an already decrypted file dump full of .bcres files to be explored (did I say anything wrong? Extreme noob here.). I found it deeply hidden in the Animal Crossing Wiki, and it's from the game New Leaf (or so it would seem, I have no means or knowledge to explore these files).

Are these usable in any way? Here's "photographic" evidence I'm not making this up:

If someone wants to take a look at this I'm going to create a thread in the main forums, and if you are interested in taking this forth, send me a PM for the files or something. Wink

Very interesting!!! I don't know for sure whether or not I can use this, but it looks promising! I will send you a PM for sure and we can figure it out. Smile

Unforetunately I think that whoever ripped this left the villagers and NPCs untouched.

It seems that only items, bugs and fish have their models complete, no sign of NPCs or villagers... :/

Oh? You don't think that the dogs you pointed out are NPCs? How come? Sad

[EDIT] Turns out that *.bcres files are texture files, so the 14 dog files were either just the NPC textures or the textures used for the photos that the NPCs give you when you become best friends.

Yeah, I opened them with Every File Explorer and sure enough they were the pictures... that's a bit of a disappointment, I really wanted the 3d models of the NPCs and villagers and their textures... Sad

That and a couple of other zip files can be found here: http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Ani...Project/NL

Unfortunately it would seem that nobody's ever gotten too far in ripping the game's resources, but I hope you'll find something useful to you there.

I've actually extracted all the game's content, I can post the raw models here if you'd like Smile

Same here. I can convert ones to fbx for free. Since I'm working for free don't expect me to rip the whole game though. Not dae because it sucks. Always gives me issues on both import and export. I've tried exporting them with animations before, and when they have an extremely large amount, this kind of effect tends to happen. https://youtu.be/0RjmE2Gvu-0?t=46s. That's just one example of why I hate dae lol

Hi there Smile

I'm learning animation and I'm also a fan of Animal Crossing, so I've been wanting to examine how the animations in the series work.
Would it be possible for someone to export some models with animations?
