Ripping sounds/resources from a GCP file? (Pac-Man World 3)
#1
Hey, So basically I'm trying to rip some of Pac-Man's voice clips from PMW and I've come across a problem as in all of the games files are ".GCP".

Apparently from what I've heard all games developed by Blitz have this sort of file system but I'm not sure how to extract it. Any help would be deeply appreciated as I desperately want some of these: Because I've already tried dumping audio in Dolphin and it's all messed up (choppy and slow) so... Please help me understand what I'm supposed to do for these sort of files.

Thanks.

If you could be so kind as to upload a couple of these I'll take a look.

Here's one of the files listed under the folder entitled "Speech" which I presume contains the audio files for the character banter.

I dunno if I need some sort of program of sorts to open these, I've tried converting them in VGSC and nothing.

UPDATE: So now I've actually managed to find a tool that extracts from .GCP files. However I have come across yet another problem: That being that the audio files are in a format I can't seem to find any sort of converter for.

".STR"

I've already tried running them through VGSC and while it claims to have converted some files when I try to listen to them it's literally no sound whatsoever. Just a 1 milisecond clip of nothing.

Anyone know of a tool to help me out here?

EDIT: So I tried messing around with it VIA Audacity and I'm able to import them VIA raw data... It's still a staticy mess but I think I can hear some voices and things from the game. Here's a link to one of Pac-Man's SRT files, any help with how to convert these would be a blast.

What did you use to extract the GCP? Whenever you solve a problem it's always helpful to post the solution for anybody else who has a similar problem. (In this case I also want to know so that I can extract it myself and check out these STR files.)

I simply right clicked Pac-Man World 3's icon in the Dolphin game select menu, went to "properties" and and then went to "filesystem" containing the data of the game, In it is a folder labeled "speech" which is what appears to be the Dialog of the characters and it seems each GCP has STR files.

Hopefully this helps, I really could use Martin T. Sherman's wonderful voice for Pac-Man in a M.U.G.E.N. character one of my friends is working on ATM.

((I used "quickbms" to extract the GCP itself btw))

Well I'm not sure what to do with them, unfortunately. I've asked on the HCS forum, the guys there are all about audio file decryption so it's the best place I can think of. Hopefully someone should figure it out.

Thanks Wink

I'll be sure to wait until then.

Again I've tried uploading the raw data in Aduacity and while it's still a [very loud] staticy mess in a few of them I think can hear the voice of some of the characters. although obviously It's unable to tell what they are saying and aside from being loud a few of them are sped up/slowed down.
