I have zero clue how to actually use 3DS Max, and basically just use it as a conversion tool when necessary.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

3DS Max has a different Collada format than Blender. Export as FBX, and if that doesn't work, then update your Blender version first.

As nobody said, you could try FBX, but it has had issues with Blender in the past when I'ved worked with it.

My suggestion is install the OpenCollada exporter for 3DS Max as it's much better than the built in one. And with Blender, version 2.62 imports most all DAE files I've tried fine. The current version of Blender, 2.73, seems to have a broken importer.
I post stuff randomly. I hope you people like what gets posted.

This worked just fine. I have the model in Blender, and looking at it with no issues (other than 'Flip UVs' isn't necessary for SSBU models).

Just wanted to add that you can import .fbx files into blender 2.70 using the following addon:

https://darisl.wordpress.com/about/impor...esweights/

I've been messing around and I've got the following models so far(Cycles):

I noticed for ZSS that in the textures for her black constume the jumpsuit colours are reversed. I changed it back for the image. For the rest of the costumes the shoes are textured wrong and the hair texture is black although I fixed hair for this render(colour is still meh).

I also use imagemagick to convert the .dds files into png images so I can view them easier when applying the textures to the models.

I still haven't been able to apply all the textures to the models, cause there are some textures I have no idea what is for.

I was looking for the 'Dark Emperor' from the Mii games in the given files. I assume he doesn't appear outside the 3DS version, does he? That was my primary search too, blast it...

How did you get ZSS's hair to work? At least in the normal costume, the hair is black and white.

I think he might've done some manual editing there. Or like... colored normals or something.

All I know is that there are some gradients included, which may or may not be a ColorRamp.

Also, because I don't want to wait for the approval anymore, here's Shadow's Assist Trophy: https://doc-0s-b0-docs.googleusercontent...vf4od6nbkd

I just changed it inside blender using a coloramp.

Argh, colorramps. I suck at those. Thanks!

So how exactly is this "shading map" used? Like, what does it control during rendering?

Will there be an effort to rip all the 3DS models as well? I think some people (like myself) would have more use for those models than they (I) would with the Wii U ones.
