Unity Ripping Catch-All Thread
#16
The "Red Ash prototype" also use Unity
I was able to rip Call (Mighty n9 ver) and Beck (Red Ash ver) without any problem, although, Call (Red Ash ver) have messed up UVs and I haven't tried Beck from Mighty n9 (since that one can just be ripped from the demo of Mighty n9 with his boneset, although that is off topic since that demo doesn't use Unity)

Hero Factory: Breakout
and
the online version of Sugar Rush from Wreck It Ralph
both use Unity

IDK if I'll ever be ripping from either of them, though
I can't even play them

If BIONICLE: Mask of Creation and Hero Factory: Breakout both use Unity, is it likely that most LEGO games also use it?

I'll check it out.

the LEGO web games until fairly recently used flash

a lot still do...

in the old days, they used shockwave.

the glatorian arena games also all use unity

i have no idea about the mobile, standalone pc and console games, however...

I was specifically referring to the mobile games.

I guess we an add:

Glatorian Arena
Glatorian Arena 2
Glatorian Arena 3

fair enough
the online games are still pretty awesome (esp. older ones) and worthy of a rip, though...
and many web game devs are starting to use unity and html5, as well... including those contracted-out by lego.

i didn't know you meant specifically the mobile games, though.

that's all

This is probably considered off-topic, but when I double-click the .jar file for DisUnity, absolutely nothing happens.

Seeing as this is the 'catch-all' thread for unity ripping, I don't believe it's off-topic.

I can't help you there, though...I have yet to get into Unity ripping.

Only advice I can give is the usual list system specs, can you get a crash report/error log?, etc...
Ya know, the generic troubleshooting questions

DisUnity is a command-line only program, which I still have yet to get to function at all.

That would explain part of it

I always have problems with those, myself

Well, I figured it out, but there's still a problem: it's incompatible with several games. There also seems to be no correlation between compatibility and the age of a game. A game released in 2009 is incompatible, whereas one game from 2015 is compatible, while another game from 2015 isn't.

That's problematic...

Maybe there's a format issue or the tool doesn't yet fully support it

Sorry, let me rephrase that and clarify what I meant:

I was specifically talking about the fact that the .obj conversion and export function doesn't work that way. The game I mentioned from 2009 (Glatorian Arena) doesn't export .obj files, but it DOES export textures, shaders, and text. One of the 2015 games I mentioned (BIONICLE: Mask of Creation) seems to be flawlessly compatible with DisUnity. Then, the other 2015 game I mentioned (Odoru? Pokémon Ongakutai/Dancing? Pokémon Band) doesn't seem to be compatible at all, as nothing exports.

In short, the .obj export seems to support less games than every other function of the program.

Hey, if I send you files from "Sir, You Are Being Hunted" would you be able to do some ripping from it, if it's compatible?

To use disunity, you need jcommander and run via cmd.exe or Terminal. there was a tutorial, but it was deleted off youtube.
Just pointing this out for anyone else whos having trouble using Disunity.

Disunity is only compatible with games that were made with certain version of Unity, Unity 4 is the most compatible, to check which version the unity game you want to rip from is, Unity Assets Explorer tells you if you open an .assets file in it. There are probably other ways, but that's the only way i know how to do it.
I've retired from game ripping
