Sprites/Models in YouTube Videos?
#1
Question
Hey all, I've had this question on my mind for a while now...

Is it safe/okay to use models and sprites from here on the VG Resource in videos online? I enjoy 3D CGI character animation and I love to play video games, so I thought it'd be very entertaining for others if I combined these two together and made videos with them...

There are channels online I see (some with a very good subscriber count) that actually get monetized through YouTube and other networks that actually make sprite animations, but also use 3D model rips sometimes...

I would NEVER think of monetizing or making a profit off of the videos that contain these sprites/models if I didn't have the rights to the games these models come from...

So what's the deal? would it be safe to make VFX shorts that use these sprites/models so long as I don't monetize them?

I think it seems pretty safe, what do you think?

Pretty sure it should be fine. I mean, I've seen countless Garry's Mod videos with models of Shrek, Sonic, Mario, and of course TF2 characters. Whether they're made with Gmod or anything else I'd say you're safe as long as you don't monetize it.

Cool! And thanks for the fast reply!

Well then, time to get started on those videos!

Just to confirm, you're good to go if you're not monetizing. In fact, it's encouraged! Half of what we do here is provide resources for projects exactly like what you're consideribg.
