Good news everyone, Games for Windows live has been patched out of Dark Souls. In its place, steamworks.
Let us have a thread to celebrate. Discuss Souls, Bloodborne, King's Field, whatever.

Now some not-so-good news, everyone.
Are you fellows ready to pay for the next Dark Souls 2 patch- I mean, are you ready to buy the Shiny-new Enhanced Edition???

You'd better be, if you want the graphics from the E3 trailer somewhat better graphics that still don't match the original expectations.

I've been meaning to play Dark Souls but never actually got around to buying the games. I guess I'll probably get the first (speaking of "first", is Demon Souls any good?) and then wait for the brand new, shiny, special edition, graphical eye sex version of Dark Souls 2.

Just like Shade, I, too, have never played any of the Demon's/Dark Souls games. But I remember one person on this forum (can't recall who, though) saying that I could start off with any one in the series.

I think I'll start off with Dark Souls 1 though, likely the PC version now that Games for Windows seems to have gotten patched out.

The first Dark Souls is certainly a better starting point than its sequel. Sadly I've barely played Demon's Souls so I wouldn't know how it compares.

As a fan, I can say I had a muuuch harder time with Demon's Souls. Even revisiting it after Dark Souls I found it more difficult. The game is unforgivably cryptic, and it's Tendencies system makes it almost impossible to see the whole the game has to offer in one playthrough.

I'd still highly recommend it. It is rich in lore, I love the bosses, and I enjoy the challenge.
