Burn out?
#1
How many sprites/art projects does it take for you to burn out?

My sister and I have this little inside joke, that Everyone has DP.
Aka: "Drawing Points"

And after you used all your DP, pretty much anything you try to draw or dish out after that becomes garbage quality, because you're burnt out.

This applies to anything the requires drawing, spriting, or painting, or just art in general.
(Maybe I should call it something else eh? w/e)

But yeah, for me, it takes about 5 good frames of sprites, and animation before I burn out.
I've lost the ability to draw on paper, since I erase a lot, and by the end of it, the drawing is pretty much grayscale crap.

How about you guys/girls?
How fast do you burn out, or are you an immortal ART MACHINE!!?
Please state in this topic. =)

(I'm such a nerd. lol)

I don't draw as often as I used to, now when I try I usually get only one or two drawings done before I lose the motivation. I have very few DP.
You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. -Mary Pickford

I've been burned out for like... Ever since I've even joined tsr. I really am trying to find my inspiration again. I'd do anything to just go into it full swing in my spare time and maybe make it my main focus in life someday.

I quickly burn out before I could even start. Having to realize more about my anger, stress, and depression pretty much caused such mental turmoil that set me back for a few years. Cry

This is kind of different, but I'm unable to sprite late at night because it gets too dark outside and it affects my eyesight a lot. It's a mixture of sleepy eyes and the lack of sunlight screwing up my ability to see the screen properly. Everything just looks like a blurry mess. I literally can't see what I'm doing, so I have to hold off until the next day if I want to accomplish anything. Lineart is still somewhat doable, but when it comes to shading, forget about it.

To say something more similar to the original topic, I generally jump to a different piece when I'm burnt out on something but don't want to take a break. It's at the end, when only the hard parts on several different pieces are left, that I'm in trouble...

Last night I was drawing a NSMBU picture; I drew Mario on Yoshi, Luigi and Baby Yoshi, and the NSMBU logo, then I started on the Red Koopa Troopa, and...it didn't look good; the Koopa Troopa looked as if it was drawn by my little brother. He's not bad at drawing, just it wasn't up to my standards. So I'll continue it tonight. In conclusion, my DP is probably an hour to an hour and 1/2 of good drawing, then ka-put.

Lol, I wish I could hand draw again. I used to doodle all day in school while taking notes, now I can't even finish one hand drawn character.

Spriting on the other hand though...
