Ulitmate Video Game Roster Challenge
#1
I don't know if I should have posted this in the Gaming section or the Lounge so move it if I'm wrong.

So I want you to list a roster for the most Ultimate Video Game Fighter of all time! This is a crossover of epic proportions.

However these are the rules:

1. Only Video Game Characters (must have originated from video game)
2. You can only enter up to 10 game companies
3. Each game company can only enter up to 4 characters they own and no more

Basically you list companies like Nintendo, Konami, or Sega (10 or less) and then list characters from those companies (4 or less) that will be on the roster. If you know math, that means there's a 40 character limit, however it can be less than that.

Now that you know the rules, let's see some rosters shall we?

1. NINTENDO:
  • Mario
  • Link
  • Pikachu
  • Kirby
2. SONY:
  • Sackboy
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Sly Cooper
  • Cole MacGrath
3. MICROSOFT:
... does microsoft even have any notable non-rareware properties who aren't FPS protagonists
  • Master Chief
  • Alan Wake?
  • 'Splosion Man??
  • Banjo & Kazooie (because let's be honest here microsoft does not give a shit about any of rareware's other franchises)
you can tell i don't really know anything about microsoft as a game publishing company

4. SEGA:
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Akira Yuki
  • Gilius Thunderhead
  • Jack Frost (for the Atlus crowd)
5. CAPCOM:
  • Ryu
  • Mega Man
  • Dante
  • Arthur
6. KONAMI:
  • Solid Snake
  • Simon Belmont
  • Bill Rizer
  • Bomberman
7. SQUARE ENIX:
  • Cloud Strife
  • Erdrick
  • Sora
  • Lara Croft
8. NAMCO:
  • Pac-Man
  • Klonoa
  • Yuri Lowell (i haven't played a single tales of game in my life but two seconds on google seems to indicate that yuri is popular)
  • Jin Kazama
9. ZENIMAX MEDIA:
  • Doomguy
  • William "B.J." Blazkowicz
  • The Last Dragonborn
  • Vault Boy
10. VALVE:
  • Gordon Freeman
  • The Heavy Weapons Guy
  • Chell
  • Louis

this took a while to construct and my enthusiasm for it kind of petered out toward the end when i struggled to find enough notable IPs for big names of today (zenimax was a real stretch but they own a lot of major properties like wolfenstein and elder scrolls so EH) and i really wanted to max out the roster

i would've had ubisoft but i legitimately can't find a single list of what IPs ubisoft owns so the best i would've been able to come up with would've been rayman and an assassin's creed character

i guess i did ok.

Don't give him pills otherwise he'll be OP.

(I might make a roster tomorrow.)

Remember you don't have to give each company 4 characters if you don't want to. That was just the max.

My ultimate fighter would use Guacamelee-styled vectors for easy scaling. Each character would have their normal fighter attacks and the equivalent of SSBB's final smash that only happens upon a player's death as a sort of revenge called "Game Over". I don't know enough about some characters to give them a Game Over and for a lot I don't know what a good Game Over would be but w/e. Characters with Game Overs or other info are marked with an asterisk.

I liked Kriven's console exclusives idea. Gonna steal it. I'm literally Zynga btw.

Well I'm gonna free up the rules a little bit.

You have a choice of either doing what's listed above or choose 5 companies with 8 characters per company. Still a 40 character limit.

I'd love to do this, but I really can't with only 10 companies. The idea I had was to keep the minimum roster at 40, but to split the amount of characters per company to less than 4, making room for more companies. Would this be okay?
