D3dmesh for Back to the future delorean help?
#1
Sofar my attempts to get the delorean with 3d ripper not been sucessful, so i opened the file with telltale explorer and found i think is the delorean as a prop and a format called d3dmesh. is there a program that can open and convert those format to obj i can use?

thanks in advance.
Most of my Rip work or use of other's Rip are in my deviantart account since my rips...not that good, IMO (missing polys or textures). I try to credit the rippers when i can if it not my work. Can take a look if you all want.

I've been wondering about d3dmeshes too. I can't find much info on them though.

Gee, I must be the only guy with knowledge of the D3DMesh format.

The D3DMesh formats have variances between games -- Bone, Sam & Max Seasons 1-2, and SBCG4AP Episode 1 use one similar set, SBCG4AP Episodes 2-5 (odd how they're not consistent), Wallace & Gromit and Poker Night use a second set that I can't figure out exactly, and Jurassic Park, The Walking Dead and Poker Night 2 use a third setup which is actually easier to understand than the first group.

And then that brings me to Back to the Future (and also Tales of Monkey Island). The D3DMesh format for those games is extremely convoluted compared to the other Telltale games and I can't find the polygon data, because everything is in one cluster of seemingly-nonsense whereas the other games had it laid out properly.

And you'd probably still have to assemble the DeLorean yourself if you were to get the models through manual importing, Telltale's prop models tend to be in multiple pieces. I know the vehicles in Jurassic Park: The Game were.

i see, explains the mutiple listings of obj_delorean a found beside the main car but doors, interior even some anm and skl files. I not see a probelm myself puting it together since i not at a level to do request yet if i provided the data (have several more posts and a month still for that.)

it do explans why the only person that sucessfully ripped the Delorean Irishhips of the xnalara community will not help me at all and the matter and want to keep the rip and xnalara exclusive it since it must been hard for him to do. Sad

if i can get the model out by 3d ripper dx without it deform by camera angles, be nice but all the obj come out deformed and not know what program can use 3dr formant, any tips on this since it seems i be the only one willing to try since i have the pc version of the game so i read it easier to pull off then the ps2 or xbox versions.

I'd advise to use either DXRipper (not to be confused with 3D Ripper DX) or NinjaRipper, those won't distort the models upon importing. Of course having a 3D Ripper DX rip handy as a reference can be useful for assembling anything that happens to be in pieces. For those, moving them from their original "origin" positions makes for good bone positions, from what I've noticed.

But yeah, it seems that the XNALara community in general is selfish, from what I've seen.

(EDIT: Bone structures are same as always, though. So that's something, at least.)

Tried both, keep geting a log error saying it "can't cant open log file" when try to open the game sadly. 3d ripper dx so far the closest i got sofar. I keep trying, thanks for the info. Hopefully i succeed and the MMD and the rest of the Rip community will finally have the Rips from the game.
