I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS)
Now I want Paper Smash Bros. Very Sad

Edit: They should have used the 3DS version as an opportunity to experiment with a different visual style, like that hand-drawn look in Iceman's post.

I guess I understand the logic that they're creating "two" games using the same resources, but it's feeling really kind of wasteful and pointless without many distinguishing features.

I wish this wasn't fake Sad
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you
I wonder why there hasn't been a Paper Mario stage yet. That seems like it would make for a great stage.

But why would they fight in the parking lot of a fighting stadium?

Man, sometimes you just have to take it outside

To be fair:

a) The actual arena room of the Glitz Pit isn't actually all that exciting to look at. The outdoor area is much more vibrant and interesting to look at in comparison.

b) We already have fighting ring stages in both versions of the game.

Although if there was a Paper Mario stage I would definitely want the in-battle stage crowd implemented in some way.
the excess express would be a really creative stage, in my opinion

it could even feature the smorg as a stage boss
On that note, I really hope Paper Mario does appear as a playable character.

Also, his stage would be the Battle Stage from Thousand Year Door.

I feel like Paper Mario's time is long passed. He was a plausible character for Melee and Brawl, back when Paper Mario and TTYD or hot games, and even Super Paper Mario had a good deal of anticipation and survived on the coattails of those that came before it. The franchise then dropped into some obscurity, and Sticker Star was the final nail in its coffin.

This is true of other characters. Krystal isn't important without a new Star Fox game, Ashley isn't important without the controversy sparked by her theme from the Touched! soundplayer.

The only four frequently requested characters whose importance has not diminished are Dixie, K. Rool, Ridley, and Geno. Ridley, because the Metroid franchise is still very important and he routinely shows up. K. Rool because he's been cemented as Donkey Kong's archnemesis, his Joker. Dixie because of her recent Return (I know it's actually Freeze) and her status as Donkey Kong's Batgirl. Geno, because his presence has colored the way Mario RPGs handled to this day. The importance of these characters are still being felt. Paper Mario, Krystal, and Ashley--not so much.

you have to remember, this smash bros. is still mostly in the last generation with its newcomers; rosalina, little mac, wii fit trainer, villager (since they look like the pre-new-leaf villagers), miis (though miis are more relevant now than they were with the wii SHH)

paper mario is plausible. buuuut i doubt it'll happen, as much as i would scream and promptly die happily if it did.
Hey guys i found a thing.

This is true, but only to a point. Super Paper Mario was represented in Brawl via trophies, which means it's a little beyond the range of SSB4's dive into last gen. This will be true of DS games as well... Most of the Pokemon influence will be from Gen 5 and 6, for example, because Brawl did 4.

Edit: The most recent thing we've seen in SSB4 so far is Greninja. It's safe to assume that SSB4 will be looking at the games which released between Brawl and Pokemon X and Y (2008-2013).

Then again, there's Sticker Star, released for the 3DS not so long ago. Sure, it may have been crap, but there's a lot of Metroid Other M content in Smash 4, so there you go.
