The backgrounds appear as they were far more detailed then your sprites. If you are going to make such detailed backgrounds I would suggest to add the very same kind of detail on your sprites as well, for the sake of consistency. Before I forget to mention the floating rocks needs more detail as well.

Take my suggestions with a grain of salt, as I am still a novice. The aces here can certainly tell you more.

I had different looking stages before and i painted new ones 2 days ago, this is previous stages:

But i played new rayman game and was very impressed how cartoony it looked like, i would like my game to have similar animated cartoon feel, in cartoons characters arent shaded heavily and bgs are more detailed+ i addded depth of field to bgs.
Replaced platforms cause old ones were placeholders.

I moved this to GameDev as I think it fits in here better.

Those platform's bottom parts look odd, they should have more darker shading down there and look less flat. Other than that, carry on Tongue

Weighing in on the backgrounds:

I like the more detailed ones. They contrast with the characters so your eyes don't get lost taking it all in at once. Kind of like the new DuckTales game or Paper Mario, where the characters are very different from the backgrounds. It's really good.
