blowing big cash on micro goods (vg version of "going bankrupt" thread)
#1
so, I find myself in this predicament that I've been spending tons of money on online and mobile games, only to realize that I've sunk into the dark world of microtransactions: when you spend real-world money on in-game items, sometimes serving real no purpose other than for the sake of vanity ("check out my sick pet he can walk around, lick his butt and tell me he loves me")

*in making the thread, I should probably add that it's ok to post about big-ticket item purchases made with ingame money too (no "bought boots LOL" but "unlocked this person i am gr8")

I play League of Legends, and I feel I've spent too much goddamn time and money on this game. So...chances are you'll see me this entire thread bragging about how much money I blew on goofy skins for champions in the game (they're releasing a beach-party-themed set of 4 so expect me to post about it soon)

so uh, I'll start

About 2 weeks ago, I bought Lil' Slugger Trundle (a skin for Trundle, in League of Legends. Trundle is a tanky champion that slows and steals his opponent's health and stats. Probably one of my favorite champions to play partly because he is literally a troll who makes several troll puns):
[Image: n1EmRBX.jpg] (No, he's not a Paranoia Agent reference at all)
However, he looks alot different now as he's received a rework to not be so goofy; they updated his skin considerably:

(It turns out the "86" on his shirt is a reference to the 3D modeler's birthyear...which is the same as mine, oh boy)

And like, 2 days ago I bought a new champion, Diana, using the ingame money system (influence points):
She costs 6300 IP, so she's kind of a "big ticket" champion...as it takes a while to get 6300 IP in the first place, lol
Diana's...an unusual champion as she's probably one of the more story-developed champions as of late. She used to be part of a sun-worshipping tribe called the Solari (who resemble Romans, actually) though always felt a connection to the moon. She was frequently humiliated and ignored by her peers, until she does a thing one night and finds a badass moonblade, goes mad and kills shit (her actual story is much better)
In game, she's a magic-damage-based melee fighter/assassin (which is also unusual) who finds an out-of-place enemy, catches up to them, traps them, shields herself, and if they get away, she leaps to them again and if they're not dead hits the enemy until they are.
In my first game as her, I went 15 kills/2 deaths/16 assists (which is RIDICULOUS) and every game I play as her I do decently (at least 10 or so kills per game)

yeye thats what i bought. and i know no one has an idea who these characters are so i took a little time to explain them Heart

pls

share your cool in-app purchases

I stopped doing this...I did it on WindSlayer when I played, however. Since changes to your character such as Hairstyle, Haircolor and Skin were permanent, that's what I spent money on, to change all of my characters from looking "default." Other than that, that's about all I've done. I'd only spend money on a game for something permanent, rather than something temporary like most microtransactions.
