It's really blurry and uses a lot of colours. Did you scale it down or use mysteriou brush tools?

I'm assuming that this "sprite" was originally a full size image that has been scaled down, correct? I'm afraid that isn't how you make a sprite.
The first giveaway is that there is an extreme abundance of AA, and the palette has like, over 100 shades of orange.

Spriting is about pixel control, and this has none, as it was a resize. Try spriting the same thing at that resolution, without resizing.

As for the Sprite itself, it's an orange ball with legs. Nothing much to critique design wise.

If you really did place each of those pixels by hand, then i Applaud you, but it still suffers from severe AA (Anti-aliasing)
and a palette of way too many colors. You mean to say you consciously chose over 100 colors for that sprite?

Alright look at this

yours [Image: spriteball.png] mine [Image: ball%20man.png]

Do you see the difference? My image has 5 colors, and conveys the same image as yours. My image has nearly no AA whatsoever, and still is what yours
is. This is just an example. It isn't perfect, but my point still stands.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm trying to help. I cannot stress enough that too much AA is bad, and AA created by brushes or effects are just as bad,
because it has no control, and adds tons of unneeded colors to your palette.

I'm wondering what process you used to make this sprite, because it's definitely not pixel art.

Like can you give a brief description of how exactly you made this?

It's a great sprite but I think the shading on the ball could be rounded a bit more

What exactly is your technique? I don't feel like what you're doing is applicable to pixel art. Learning to convey your image on a such a small scale while still being readable is one of the beauties of pixel art, while you merely resized a much larger image (or used a photoshop-like brush tool, which gives waaaaaay too much AA around it(((it's meant for much larger images, like >1000x1000px)))) which makes the piece lose definition.

I think he used windows 7 paint. The brush tool blurs things as opposed to the plain colour application we're all used to from classic paint. I'd you're using windows 7 paint just use the pencil and paint bucket tool.
