Not sure I understand. What is the issue you are having?

You don't want it exported in PNG format?

I think he means that the filename is changed to have "001" at the end when exporting.

it adds and additional . at the end of the file name after the extention making it not display properly on mac example file (cannon.png) it exports as (cannon.png.)

Out of curiosity, is there any way to stop it from cutting sprites apart?

What I mean by that is when there's a small separation between pieces of a sprite (for instance, a shield that is floating around the character with a 2-3 pixel separation, sometimes a little more, it will cut off the shield and place it as it's own sprite, rather than as part of the main sprite.)

I know it's probably not possible, but I thought I'd ask, and maybe I'm just overlooking something. I've enabled both searches, but it only fixes a few of them. xD If I have to manually grab them, that's fine, I thought I'd ask though.

Some sprites have such a huge gap there is no easy way to do it in the program. I will look into the extra period issue.

EDIT:
It seems it was my own mistake. I just never noticed the bug as Windows automatically removed the extra period.

v1.5
-Fixed an issue with additional period at the end of extensions.
-Added the starts of a tile cutter in the source (not available in the GUI yet).

I greatly appreciate the bug reports! Please continue to tell me about any bugs you find.
