I wish I could thank posts in locked threads again, personally.

Why? A thank essentially agrees with a post, yes.

But really, it seems just like a more efficient way to prevent posts that are just,

words

Something that doesn't really make a difference in a lock.

edit: oh now I get what you mean.

The only reason why I think users should have the ability to thank posts in a locked thread is because I feel like if they actually read the thread and why it got locked in the first place they could actually thank a moderator for giving him a specific reason.

same could be said for valid criticisms that could be used for future reference.
