[INDIE-MMO][BRAINSTORMING] F2P MetroidVania Style MMO

Apologies if this is in the wrong section and if it is, please do notify me of where to move it or have it moved over. Cute

So yes, despite me being a novice at pixel art, I'm still driven to finishing this for my ultimate accomplishment or something. I've some friends who are able enough to help me on coding though as they are also studying on it.

So what I'm trying to envision is a Heavy Fantasy with some elements of Steam Punk and Sci-Fi and applying it into a game which would invoke the feeling of Castlevania or Metroid:

~Abilties which Unlock Further Areas of the Game World (Double Jump,Sliding,Flight,High Jump,etc
~Sidescrolling Movement
~Transition Area Tunnels
~Hard Cap
~Boss Rush

Another reason for using Pixel Art is for in my opinion it will help convey a feeling of nostalgia to the old video games. If you've played Final Fantasy,Diablo,Maplestory,Dungeons and Dragons & Ragnarok, the game would also have some elements I referenced from them with adding my own flavor.

The Game has a very broad list of Classes, to enumerate just them all... (Prepare for a long wall of text)

Legend:
(Class)
(Can Upgrade to the Following)

Novice:
Fighter-Mage-Archer-Thief-Cleric-Trader-Wanderer-Adventurer-Heretic

Beast Tamer->Beast Lord
Brawler->Elementalist
Druid->Oracle

Much like in Maplestory, Characters can customize their visual appearance, from the shoes to the nice hat, every weapon will have custom sprites and hopefully I will try to avoid sprite mirroring too.

The Game would be a Browser based one, with native-screen resolution being 800x600.

Another bit of flavor I would like to add in would be the various body sizes (Large-Medium-Small),Along with common elements (Skin Tone & Hair Color) Along with this, you can also design your character's face which will be shown on the side or will be seen by fellow players should they examine your character or join you in a Party. The Portraits also double as a status indicator, changing slightly when under buffs/debuffs. Allowing player's to have more individuality.

P.S. This is not a request per say, until I have enough post ranks and have enough skill. I just wanted to share my story or something and just putting it in here to let the world know... Surprise

Do you have any experience with game development? You're jumping into a huge project right now.

Start on something smaller first.

Yeah I know it's quit a big project. It's just this project has been in my mind ever since I was in gradeschool, And just now have I been able to flesh it out more properly. I'm taking up Multimedia in Commercial Design so I hope I can further up my skills as well.

On the other side of the Coin... I'm making a total graphics overhaul of Red Alert 2's Units & Buildings to make them all look cute and chibi...

This looks like it could become really good, and I really want in.

Like I have said in 2 other threads, I do not sprite very much, but I am very good at writing plots. Therefore, because this game looks like a cool game, I would be really happy to help you create a plot.

Also, although I said I do not sprite much, I have made some mushroom sprites (Not Mario mushrooms, but little background mushrooms.) that could be used for crafting + food + decoration.

Oh yes, and I am pretty good at making Levels with Level Creators, but until a sufficient coder can code that, I'm stuck with Plot Writing.

while you've got some ideas of the game, I think you should work on something smaller, as Tyvon said.

We aren't saying to stop working on this project, but rather to accumulate experience at game-making by doing smaller projects first. Then, with enough knowledge, you could tackle this.
