Sprite Challenge #8 -100% Shawn free (do these pixels make me look fat?)
#1
I've sent a PM to Boo saying he'd be the next game host but since he never replied to me I guess I'll make the thread then, eh?

Challenge #8: WIDE PIXELS

Make anything you like, with wide, C-64 styled pixels. Instead of relying on square pixels to form images, they were done with rectangles of 2x1 px, as seen here.

There is no need to stick with the C64 palette, but if you want to be more retro, here it is:

this challenge will end on October 25th, so let's get started!

Wait, really? I guess I kinda miscomprehended it, I thought the piece it self had to be obviously made out of rectangles. Back to the drawing board then

Is this from a Commodore 64 game? I think I recognize it from somewhere, but I can't remember where.

I don't know, I just grabbed some random pixelart with wide pixel limitations.
to avoid this challenge from not having any actual attempts, I'll post my pixelart here

Do we have to follow a 2x1 grid, or can we still put them on a 1x1 grid as long as every pixel we use is 2x1?

Isn't this technically the same thing?

Either way, everything is 2x1.

I think he meant if he could use 2x1 pixels without considereing the new resolution. That isn't valid, use 2x1 pixels in a 2x1 resolution ratio.

anyone have any tutorials on how to make a pixel art with palette c64? I'm wanting to do, but I don't have much knowledge about this palette

what

just... grab the colors I posted and make a pixelart

there is no way of 'teaching you how to use a fixed number of colors'.
