everyone should know about Namco's rebirth of the classic Beat'em Up horror series.
i bought it today for my X-box 360, and got a free T-shirt since i preordered it

first impressions, this is a fucking gory game! how you can perform finishing moves on enemies and bosses.
one finishing move shows Rick tearing the jaws apart of a monster then pull its lungs out from the throat.
so far, i'm up to chapter three. and have 5% done. shit, must be a big game.

best thing about the game? Jim Cummings as the voice of the Terror Mask! Big Grin

conclusion, as a horror and beat'em up fan, i love it. its one of the better Beat'em Ups this year, i reckon.
and as a bonus, you unlock the three original games as you progress.

discuss.

I've seen a few trailers and I can't decide what to make of it.

On the one hand, I'm not pretentious enough to pretend I don't love some really mindless games every now and then. On the other, the knowingly over-masculine ultraviolent game is starting to be a bit of a tired gimmick, for me. The Impossibly Manly game played with tongue-in-cheek is getting just as cliché as the Impossibly Manly game is when played straight.

I want to get this game just for the fact it's a reboot of the original series.

just about it really.

I went and got it for PS3, and it's honestly pretty fun. The Splatter Kills are really only Wow-worthy the first time you see 'em, though, and so far the combat doesn't seem to have much depth to it.

The only thing that attracts me to the game would be the soundtrack, but Brutal Legend already gives me that.

I wouldn't say it was one of the better beat 'em ups of the year, hell Dante's Inferno (see what I did there?) had more substance to it. But well, I loved the original and the third one (second one was just pointless) and I'd say this was worth renting or picking up on the cheap - just like Dante's Inferno is. Not worth the full amount they're asking for it though.

Compared to God of War 3 (which is probably the best beat 'em up ever) and Bayonetta it's leagues behind and even lags when compared to Castlevania. But I'm still glad to see the series revived (hell I remember when they said they was going to for the PS2) and it's a game worth playing and having a few hours of mindless fun with. And well if you want to kill LOTS of hours Castlevania would be a better choice as it's smegging huge (and cheap if you look around).
