Why Do You like Your Favorite Game?
#61
TP wasn't dark (except for that part where midna explained the fused shadows, but i thought that was just trying too hard)

I've always gotten a light-hearted yay generic happy adventure vibe from every Zelda, except MM has those cutscenes and moments that just seem "darker" to me, and a soundtrack that seems to emphasize it. It kind of carries out a theme of death and impending doom throughout it when the other zeldas really don't. tbh I'd say it's more weird than dark, but I mean if we're talking relatively then MM has the moon, those bizarre somber scenes, people dying to give you masks, the happy mask salesman, the cutscene when you let time run out, the deku statue etc. Other zeldas rarely have even one dark scene in my experience.

It's not a huge step up and MM obviously doesn't come close to being the darkest game ever, but I do think it has an interesting and strange vibe to it, so that's probably what he meant.

The atmosphere of the entire game is dark.

I thought TP tried to be more "epic fantasy movie"-like or something. I guess it tried to be more serious but I don't recall anything happening to make it be called "dark"

The world being enveloped by darkness, the atmosphere of Hyrule in general, the more "frightening" take on classic enemies-- things like that.

i honestly feel ww had a more dark tone than tp

I haven't played WW yet (I know, I know), but the overall style of the graphics and the cartoony look in general that they used definitely doesn't look "dark" at all, especially compared to TP. Everything is light, vibrant, and saturated.

ww was pretty damn dark at times, mostly because it contrasted so well with the cheery graphics. parts like ganondorf giving you brutal beatdowns or THE FUCKING REDEADS were kind of frightening when you first see them

custom robo arena makes me feel into the game, and I like the variety of robots and their stats.

Uhh, you just bumped a thread from last year, Androsan. Please don't do that.

And I don't have a favorite game anyway, I love too many. Tongue
