SHINY PONYTA YOU GUYS
#31
The only shinies Ive ever had are a red Gyrados from GTS, a Black Rayquaza that my brother hacked to get, and when he gave me his Pearl (he got bored of it) i traded it over to platinum, and a 'Pikachu coloured Pichu' from mystery gift, which I traded my friend for a deoxys so he could get Notch-Eared Pichu. I also spent pretty much all of last friday and Sunday trying to catch a shiny Phanpy, without much luck (Poke rader was driving me mad after a while!)

I have played through *seven* Pokemon games

and have not ever seen a single shiny in any of them.

Gold, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Leaf Green, Diamond, and Heart Gold

seriously

and it pisses me off since my brother found and caught a shiny Shinx in the first five minutes of playing through Pearl

>:[

finally got a shiny through RNG, but that shit doesn't count

Exhibit A: 58765454874754738484745 battles to get a shiny Ponyta.

RNG abuse isn't hacking because you're not using an external device to change the game's data d:

It's literally just abusing the games random number generator

I found a shiny Girafarig in my copy of Emerald, and a shiny Starly in Diamond within the first couple of days of owning it. That's it though.

I once Ran into a Shiny Meowth (Leaf Green) when I was running back to the Pokemart to buy more Pokeballs...and a Shiny Vileplume in Emerald's Battle Pyramid...I hate that I couldn't do anything to try to catch either of them

I also caught a Shiny Diglett & Onix (Fire Red), Bred a Shiny Gastly, Charmander and Elekid (All in Diamond)

Wow

I've only ever seen a shiny bellsprout (...) in silver but I couldn't catch it

I don't really care though 'cause a lot of shinies are ugly anyway

I remember finding a shiny Ratatta in leafgreen right after I got my starter, but before you could have access to pokeballs. I remember catching a shiney Licktung on Gold doing the Bills grandpa thing, which is still on my Pokemon Stadium 2 file in the lab.

Oh and the shiny caterpie I got during National Park.

Woo hoo

theoretically speaking, if you were able to copy your actions verbatim from one game to another, would you encounter the same shinies?

It'll get more active once the game comes out in Japan.

Hmmmm nope. You have a different Secret ID for each game file, and that determines your shiny encounter rate. The program that determines the timing you need to hit (since it's the same process per game, though it may vary from generation to generation I haven't tried this outside d/p/p) depends on the information you input, and the factors by which this is calculated is different for each game file.
