My only complaint is that the homing attack might make things too easy. Other than that it looks really good!

It would have been cool if they used 2D sprites in a 3D setting (Cry i wish i had prinnies)

My general point of view of Sonic 4:

The homming attack is pointless in 2D, and I absolutely hate that they're throwing speed boosters in every stage. It takes away the game design of the classics - to work to get momentum and to work to keep it. Speed boosters give you automatic speed with no penalty or difficulty to use it, since the level design presents them in every way. (One could argue that springs also work like that, but you actually have a penalty to use it, that is to stop, turn around, and bounce on it. You'll never use them if you ALREADY have speed, it's a penalty for players that didn't build up enough speed to go through a certain gimmick that needs such speed) I also dislike how everything in this game is rehashed as hell (the ending is quite literally the exact same ending as Sonic 1 but with HD graphics what the fuck), the special stage also seems to be pretty dull. If Sonic 1's Special Stage was more or less boring, Sonic 4's is VERY boring and bland. Not to mention that this is one of the fewest Sonic games with a really boring soundtrack (the hell, even Sonic the Hedgehog 06 had a great soundtrack). The game is also very short, so it doesn't seem to feel like a sequel or a rebirth of the series, just a game that has a small compilation of levels that has elements from older Sonic games.

But,
the level design actually looks GOOD, even with the speed boosters, that aren't placed unnecessarily everywhere like in a lot of other Sonic games, the graphics are also really beautiful. Colorful sceneries within the same unique style as the old games had. Even though A LOT of things are rehashed, they also implanted some new level gimmicks that are pretty inventive (see Lost Labirinth and Mad Gear), and the game in general looks fun, albeit very short. It's also nice to see SEGA delaying the game so that they would remove the HORRIBLE HORRIBLE stage that was Casino Street Act 2, among other fixes by actually hearing the fans, and maybe even add some features that we might not know yet! And that's why I think it's important to criticize Sonic 4, specially whenever it comes out. SEGA is hearing, and if they recieve good feedback, but with powerful critiques too, they'll do other episodes, and more, they'll do better episodes.

I pretty much agree with rokkan, but the one thing I dislike about the graphics is sonic himself: It's like he has way less detail than the environment around him, ad generally looks ugly.

Like I said on MFGG, this looks amazing.

I heard that they're cutting out the gimmicky stages, which were crap tbh.
NOPE.
