Quote:Nintendo describes the portable as allowing games to be "enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses". According to Nintendo, the product will go on sale between April 2010 and March 2011

Looks like Nintendo is getting innovative with 3D now.

I told you Pokemon Gen5 will be on the next handheld and not the DS.

If it truly can do glasses-less 3d, pixel art will be officially outdated (well, unless it's 3d pixel art)

To do glasses-less 3d, you need to arrange pixels in a specific way so that each eye is seeing two different things at the same time. The pixels will not be flat; they will be directed at your eyes with every two being in a "V" shape. Of course, glasses-less 3d will only work at a specific distance from your head. This means that unless Nintendo does some fancily pricey maneuver, every 3DS game will have to be in 3D.

That's why I seriously doubt this is real.

Looks like an April Fool's joke.

3D television has only surfaced this year, and those require 3D glasses to view properly. Then again, if this was real, its Japanese origin might say otherwise....
NOPE.

I'm agreeing with the can't be real feeling - but it is on the official Nintendo Japan website....

OOH, it's this type of 3D. Looks freaking amazing.. I would love to play it.
NOPE.

I wouldn't really classify that as 3D as much as the average CGI game. What makes it 3D is the coming out, the actual 3rd dimension. The video's game is still in a 2 dimensional screen.

I disagree... sort of. What it resembles is REVERSE 3D. Well really it's just an optical illusion, making you think that there is depth when actually there isn't.

It's like that thing where they put a mirror inside a box next half a piece of something... when you look in the window that allows you to see inside, it looks like a whole piece inside a box. But when you look on the other side, nothing's there. Optical illusions.

All I'm saying is that this could very well be true.

Remember that thread a while back about Gen5 where it said that The Pokemon company was the first to receive the SDK for the next gen DS, and that it'd in some way involve motion?

I'm assuming this is this same thing.

oh wow, that is cool. if...that is actually what this is, I'll actually be excited for it.

I'm not too fond of the gimmicky pop-out 3D, but depth 3D is awesome.

Yes. Nintendo is planning on doing something with wireless. It's assumed to be a free 3G connection.
