Actually the title should be "Our cousin", the character being a Neanderthal.
Not restricting myself, just messing around with double pixels, dithering patterns and grids within my palette.

Don't worry, that's just so I've got a grid. After that I'll gradient it like the hair, but I think I may change the colour of the chest grid ( his hair to be ).
