word on the street is FFXIII sucks
#16
You suck, Colton (lol, j/k)

A friend sent me a link that was a guy livestreaming his FFXIII gameplay and I decided to watch it. I couldn't understand the story, but I could hear lots of "mamoru" (trans: "TO PROTECT!"), it was even annoying.
The entire gameplay was just one straight line, no kidding. And there was LAG during moving the camera.

At least the other FF since the beginning of the game you can start doing some sidequests, but this one had NOTHING. Just pretty graphics (but I wasn't that impressed, how come they have a game with LAG WHILE MOVING THE DAMN CAMERA?). And it didn't looked challenging at all.

PS2- Quality declines sharply after 10
PS3- crap?
id say snes and ps1 are on tier with one another. 4 to 9 were amazing imo. 1 to 3 need major remakes. especially 2.

10 to 13 all looked kinda meh.

1-3 need major remakes/overhauls, especially 2
not just the current graphical facelifts (technically FF3DS was a major overhaul, but it still has an "old" feeling)

4 is decent, at least in the SNES and PS1 versions, but I'm pretty sure the DS remake is amazing. I need to play it.

5 is pretty good, but needs a major 3D upgrade like FF4DS (except maybe not in the chibi-esque style)

6 is amazing and would be even better with 3D graphics and everything else (except maybe a new translation) untouched

7 is amazing, but needs new graphics and a new translation. I'm not an FF7 fanboy, but I do think it's one of the best in the series.

8 is amazing, needs graphics update only.

9 is amazing, needs graphics update only.

10 sucks and I hate it.

haven't played 11

12 is mega crap and a disgrace to the series and shouldn't exist.

i am really tired of FF and if anything i'd encourage square enix to work on new franchises instead of another remake of a remake of a remake.

i liked FFX. the battle system was really fun and the storyline wasn't BAD.

11 doesn't really count since it's online

i have heard nothing but bad about 12 though

FFVIII is still my favorite FF game, I didn't play IX enough to really "get into it" but I liked what I played.

(of course I have never completed a FF game but still)

Are you referring to the different numbered games as remakes of each other, or do you mean the actual remakes released of older Final Fantasy titles? Because if it's the former, each numbered title is usually significantly different in gameplay, and always different in plot, setting and characters.

Remakes of the old games. or at least, they could rework other titles such as Chronno Trigger, Front Mission, Einhander, Parasite Eve, Xenogears, etc.

whatever, they have plenty titles to choose, but they insist on milking over and over the damn FF.

Ps3 is getting a more complete version, which is why he posted it like that. (I think)

not surprised. Everything after IX was way too ambitious and they tried to change too much.

I mean I can understand changing the battle system a little, and maybe a new ability system, but for the most part all of the FFs from 4 to 9 have the exact same gameplay, with little changes here and there to make each game unique, like VII's materia and VIII's junctioning (can't speak for 5, never played it, but the rest). All of them work perfectly though. The second they started changing things with X, the series began declining.

This one looks no different. I dunno, I think going back to basics is what would save the series.
Oh yeah, and the characters in this one look so generic, none of them look even the least bit memorable.

Final Fantasy X had to be one of the better Final fantasy games I have played in my roughly 15 years of gaming. What I played of 12 though... err.

call me retrofag but after 6 every ff6 is about how pretty the main character is instead of how deep the story line could be.

graphics surely helped through this.

I really doubt "pretty" was a word used to describe Tidus, the awkward looking jock hero in FFX.

Like, my favorite FF is 6 and all, but FFX is delicious. The story is good, the characters are decent and likeable (Holy fuck yes Auron), and it's battle system is RPG PErfection.

odd how ff6s main character is the only female one, not counting XIII

actually i'm pretty sure the "prettiness" is because the character designer changed when they moved to the playstation, to better fit the consoles abilities or something

it doesnt really matter though, the games after 6 are still fantastic, up until 10 (10 wasnt horrible btw, it just was the start of the rapid decline)
