The guide was to help people figure out what to do next after obtaining raw data, so they get the models themselves and help contribute to the VG Resource. As much as I would love to completely make every single model accessible in .DAE format myself, that's very time consuming and very tiring after a while, because of the steps needed to convert everything. There are some .BFRES importers for blender being developed, but don't seem very complete yet which is why i only list the 3dsmax plugin, since i know it works. 
Until someone makes one program that batch converts all SZS files to DAE with textures intact, you have to go through multiple programs to reach that point.

Ah I see now, I was under the assumption it was like with Kuro's Fire Emblem Warriors Thread only for Splatoon 2's Gear.
Yep no problem, I probably should've made that clearer

Nah it's fine, I tend to have a history of being dense and getting the wrong idea lol
