How is this even a problem. Use mobile device best practices and you'll probably get a good 8 hours on this thing just like you should be doing with your phone or 3DS on long trips. Also, just get pants with bigger pockets and more room. Buy some UFO pants.

I don't think it's meant to be a true "portable" - like I'm pretty sure the 3DS has a little more life left in it. If they DO phase out their portable development, there's ummm...there's...your phone, with those upcoming...Nintendo...franchise games? :')
OK seriously though given the price of this thing will probably be like in the $400 range you probably won't wanna take it too far out of the house anyway - but if you assumedly were to, you'd probably at the least want to at least
- buy a protective case
- and put it in a messenger bag or backpack of some sort
- if you don't want to do either of these, i guess this thing's just gonna live its life in the dock, where i plan to leave mine (which should also prove handy for carrying it)
Really, if anything this will be the ultimate console for travel, given its footprint and its loudly-touted eSports scenario used in the trailer (it means pros and teams can just bring a tablet and dock their systems into a "championship dock" and go head to head)
I usually bring my Ouya when I travel and I plan on buying an Nvidia Shield TV, but now that this was revealed, maybe it won't hurt to hold off for now on purchasing that in favor of this.
Like I'm hoping Nintendo's finally taking a hint SOMEWHERE from Sony and Microsoft and plan on giving the device an "Android Channel" or something that lets you use the thing like a normal tablet and enjoy using the thing for media. That'd be the Absolute Tits. Like, if they're branching out into mobile gaming, how on earth would you NOT allow your tablet device to play your mobile titles? You're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't.

Alright I'm gonna admit jumping onto the launch bandwagon for a Nintendo console (or any console, Sony or Microsoft even) nowadays is really not a great idea, but I'm probably going to aggressively imply right now that about a year into its life when Nintendo's announcing a bunch of home runs for the console and we've got more details (and deals!) on actual games (like holiday 2017) you're probably gonna want this thing.
like reading this i'm wondering if you bought the wii u at launch which, at that point, yeah you probably screwed yourself. like a year in, you could grab a bunch of good titles in the $30 range and the console itself was marked down $50. that was a pretty good time to get in on the wii u (for the consumer, at least) and they were still announcing some pretty solid titles. like i'd think if you were buying consoles with your own Dollars, it just makes sense to be a late adopter to a console for entirely this reason
i think an even better time to get in on the wii u is once the switch comes out, because you can Bet Your Bippy that the switch will probably not be able to play your Wii U titles natively
Oh, yeah - weirdly enough I want to see the third-party accessories for this thing. I want to see HORI protective hard cases and screen protectors for this thing and then yeah probably I'll bite
