Since this is an obscure game (And some might wonder why the sprites look weird). It was a SMB3 clone made by ID software (Yes, that ID) to test a scrolling engine on PC gaming. Since this was before the era of stuff like this site, sprites had to be remade by hand, hence them looking all nasty.
