They're priced at 13 dollars a unit INCLUDING mechanical device to be read by the consoles, of course something is going to be cut to be easier to mass produce. The prototype model shown at E3 is hand-manufactured, which demands more time, a professional painter and carver, etc. while the mass production relies more on machines to achieve the same result. And the sold product needs to be sturdier to endure play, and conform with the American toy norms (soft plastic for pointy details such as swords and crowns, undetachable parts due to swallowing hazard etc.

This is not a niche action figure product, it is a toy aimed at kids and adults alike, and you know kids can be dumb and break/hurt themselves/swallow these toys. I did it once when I was small.
