But why give a Mii a Samus helmet if Samus is in the game. Do people really design Miis just to have their entire heads (which is 99.9% of Mii customization) hidden away by helmets and such? Just a nitpick.

Because that's an actual StreetPlaza hat, like the Meta Knight one.

I know, but Streetpass Plaza doesn't have an actual Samus or Meta Knight.

Not sure what you're getting at here. Of course they don't, but they do have hats you can earn modeled after those characters, and really, that's all there is to it.
