Except they're not trying to celebrate Other M. They're only updating the models.
Does that mean they are taking Other M's model from the game? no. They're just basing the design off of it. Not like it's the exact same thing.
EDIT: Besides, not all the metroid fans out there hate Other M. There are probably some who enjoyed them game to an extent. Ether way Sakurai has a knack for keeping up with current appearances.
