Point taken, however, the way Smash Bros. works he'd have to land at some point. If you took advantage of that fact to balance him out, his ground options could be laggy, take-off maybe not as smooth as simply jumping is with other characters. Ridley players would want to focus on staying airborne as much as possible, and touching down as safe as possible.
I'm probably over thinking it, and don't know that it still sounds like Ridley to a Metriod fan but, I think that's a playstyle I'd like to see.
