It would seem from what I can find the game runs on DirectX 6 considering the timeframe of the original release being somewhere in 1999. Recently, 3D Ripper DX gained beta support for DirectX 6 in version 1.8. I No clue if Ninja Ripper has support for DirectX 6 in the first place. If it doesn't, there lies the problem. Try using 3D Ripper DX, you should hopefully get results.

Tex Mod might work as well. I just installed 3D Ripper DX yesterday and saw that the 3Ds Max script went only up to 3Ds Max 2011. Do you know if there is one for 3Ds Max 2015? The op could probably benefit from it since the .obj files that Ripper Dx makes are always a bit deformed but the other ones I heard are meant to be accurate and sometimes makes models in a t Pose.

I use Blender, so I have no clue. You could run it through Blender, and re-export it if need be.
