A lot of this slack could be trimmed from the process:
1)just don't do this on your phone? i'm not even sure how you can do this on a phone.
2)most 3D rendering software allows you to render the image with transparent background. and also lets you change the size of the render to whichever you need for the preview\icon.
if you are not willing to do icons by yourself it should be expected that it will take more time for them to get approved. the site's Staff are also people and can only do so much.
i myself have 91 models sitting in the unnaproved list since early september. i did icons for all of them. sure it was boring as hell but at least i know that it would be easier for the staff to check them out.
