I think Gorsals entry could've benefited from losing the thick black outline, even just for clarity purposes.
Not only that, but nothing against the person: that character just happens to have a boring design.
There are a lot of things that could've been done, like focusing on the strongest elements of the design and making them more prominent, or playing with the palette and pose more.
I think Meta's entry is probably one of the strongest here (if not the strongest) because it's easy to read, it's got a "cute" pose and body language, a relatively simple palette and it looks "complete" for what it is.
