hey guys, this is sort of an old application that's come out in the last year or so. I tried doing this with simular programs in the past, but they've always been overly complicated.
Basically with Catch, you can transform a series of 2D photos into a fully 3D model with textures intact!
I tried this using simple objects, to more complex objects. Here is an example of a N64 rumble pack created from a series of 40 photos from various angles

Catch is currently FREE, but only as a beta. Unfortunately for now you can't "download" catch, but rather upload your photos to their server. The server will then resend your scene to you when it is done processing.
The problem with this is obviously it may take a VERY long time to upload/download your content depending on your connection speed and the load on their server. Another bummer is that the quality is purposely downgraded in the beta, as indicated by the site staff.
Keep in mind that MORE photos means more accurate or better reconstructed 3D objects. But more photos will also result in longer WAITING time. The rumble pack was made out of only 40 images, and maybe took 15-20mins to process. As the anime figures were almost 300 images and took over 2hours to reconstruct as a model.
Anyways, if your interested in trying 123D Catch, please share your experiences and creations here. it would be cool seeing what others were able to recreate in 3D !!
PS. If your further interested in alternative 3D scanning methods, I'm currently researching a laser method. which is free and relatively cheap. It only requires a PC, Camera, and Laser pointer. The crappy part is that the program created for this disables the ability to scan textured models. That is however until you pay that $1000 dollars (USD) to unlock that darn feature! lol
Anyway the model quality is 100x better over that created in 123D Catch. Find more on that and supplies here @: http://www.david-laserscanner.com/
