there is no such thing as a DS scale to GBA scale.
but yes, edits and recolors (and the rest of the useless names they gave to that shit nowdays) might prove easier, but its utterly useless in the long run. even your worst scribble has more value and merit since you are the one who created it, rather than using some premade sprite as a creativity diaper.
