my suggestion is do more realism, your anime aspects will blossom tenfold as a result.
You have an excellent grasp on colors and design, and you could only get better by copying some well designed mechas / characters (which i already see you're doin with the boktai stuff so)
Drapery looks kinda limited, thats easily fixed after some tutorials though.
also i would have the black mass lead up to the white girls feet, like have her leg shadows fuse into that.

otherwise keep doin whatcha doin! your stuff is really awesome :B
