it might be that the program he is using to make the gif is limited in colors. I know a lot of gifs tend to lose colors.
Yep. Acro basically consists of a grey gradient, and that allows me to use a lot of anti-aliasing between colors that are very close to one another in the spectrum; the down-side to this is that .gifs don't have very many colors to match them with, so similar colors get blended together and you lose the shading. That's why I include the sheets with the .gifs.
